Bachelorebene
Einführung in grundlegende Herausforderungen und Konzepte der Organisations- und Führungsforschung sowie -praxis. Das vermittelte Grundlagenwissen soll die Studierenden befähigen, aktuelle Führungs- und Organisationsherausforderungen zu verstehen und wirksame Verfahren zur Handhabung dieser Herausforderungen nachzuvollziehen.
Die Vorlesung „Leadership & Human Resource Management“ gehört zum Pflichtbereich des Bachelorstudiums in Betriebswirtschaftslehre und wird durch zehn Übungsgruppen begleitet.
“Leadership & Human Resource Management” bildet das englischsprachige Pendant zur deutschsprachigen Vorlesung. Diese Vorlesung richtet sich insbesondere auch an Gaststudierende an der Universität St.Gallen und wird von sechs Übungsgruppen begleitet.
Masterebene
Die Lehrveranstaltung teilt sich in die beiden Themenbereiche Feedbackgespräche und Coachingprozesse auf, wobei der Schwerpunkt auf Coaching liegt. Die Theorieerarbeitung erfolgt anhand praktischer Beispiele und wird mit Trainings zur Gestaltung von Feedbackgesprächen und Coachingprozessen abgerundet.
Im Rahmen der Veranstaltung wird den Studierenden die Möglichkeit gegeben, das im Themenbereich „Personalmanagementʺ erworbene Wissen in einem Projekt in Zusammenarbeit mit einem Praxispartner anzuwenden. Das inhaltliche Spektrum der HR‑Praxisprojekte ist dabei vielfältig und kann beispielsweise Themen wie Personalauswahl, Personalentwicklung, Personalbindung oder Employer Branding beinhalten. Die konkrete inhaltliche Ausgestaltung erfolgt in Abstimmung mit den Praxispartnern. Ein besonderer Schwerpunkt der Praxisprojekte liegt auf evidenzbasiertem Personalmanagement.
The course “Strategic Leadership” is part of the SIM Master at the University of St.Gallen. Topics of this course include contemporary issues and perspectives on strategic leadership. It is the responsibility of a strategic leader to ensure the sustainable development of their organizations. This includes providing direction and vision, setting the tone for the organization, finding creative solutions to complex challenges and translating strategy into action. Ultimately, strategic leadership is winning people for the strategic initiatives and actions. We will discuss challenges associated with strategic leadership on a personal, team and organizational level. Topics include the role of a strategic leader (leadership personality and values), characteristics and dynamics of high performance teams, strategic organizational issues (energy, leading in times of crisis, inspirational leadership and organizational culture) and current trends (demographic change and health‑oriented leadership).
Doktoratsebene
Organizational Behavior (OB) has been one of the most vibrant research streams in management science over the past decades and is widely recognized as one of the most relevant research areas for organizational practice. OB research is concerned with studying the impact that individuals, groups, and organizational structures have on behavior in organizations, with the aim of applying this knowledge for improving organizational effectiveness. The overall aim of this colloquium is to provide participants with a forum for constructively discussing, reflecting, and advancing their own research in the field of Organizational Behavior and related disciplines. It is intended to help students to further improve their empirical paper projects and to make their work ready for submission to an academic conference and/or a renowned journal in General Management and/or Organizational Behavior.
The aim of this course is to have students expand their theoretical knowledge on research design and methods and to enable participants to carry out their own empirical study. More specifically, the aim is (1) to introduce important quantitative and qualitative research methodologies that doctoral students may apply in the course of their dissertation research, (2) to give students a general overview of appropriate research designs for their research questions and enable them to critically evaluate designs and results, and (3) to learn about a correct and comprehensive presentation of research results.
Weitere Kurse
This intensive training takes place at the end of the first week of the academic term for ISP students. It offers an opportunity for students to get to know one another better while learning some valuable team and leadership skills. It takes place on campus and in the forest not far from the University of St. Gallen.
