AI & Leadership: how Leaders Can Shape the Future

Successful Second Edition of the Seminar “AI – Leadership Impact & Transformation” at the University of St.Gallen

From June 23 to 26, 2025, the highly topical seminar “Artificial Intelligence – Leadership Impact & Transformation” took place for the second time at the Executive Campus Holzweid of the University of St.Gallen (HSG). The focus was on pressing questions regarding the role of AI in companies and society: How is AI disruption changing organizations and future jobs? What requirements arise for empathetic, value-oriented leadership in the digital age?

Over three days, Prof. Dr. Heike Bruch (IFPM-HSG) and renowned experts from HSG, such as Prof. Dr. Jan Marco Leimeister, Prof. Dr. Sabine Seufert, and Dr. Sophie Klüser, intensively discussed the strategic shaping of AI transformation with the 34 participants from the DACH region. In interactive sessions, presentations, and practice-oriented discussions, the impacts on business areas, leadership culture, and human-AI collaboration were highlighted.

Furthermore, research insights were provided by Prof. Dr. Dirk Kleine (Munich University of Applied Sciences) and Prof. Dr. Alexander Filipovic (University of Vienna), who contributed ethical, societal, and organizational perspectives on AI.

Partners such as Fabian Mösli (Helvetia Insurance Switzerland), Norbert Janzen (FUNKE Mediengruppe), and Sobin Ghose (Beyond Emotion GmbH) enriched the seminar with experience reports and concrete case studies on the implementation of AI strategies. Together with Heike Bruch, they discussed challenges and opportunities in implementing AI strategies in companies, the resulting changes in future job profiles, and social applications for AI in our society.

Particularly exciting was the contribution from Frauke von Polier and Vera Snell (Viessmann Generations Group), who presented innovative approaches to Gen AI Enablement and AI-based Leadership Assessments.

The participants particularly valued in this seminar the strong group dynamics, the open exchange, and the diversity of perspectives.

On Wednesday afternoon, the seminar seamlessly transitioned into the St.Gallen Leadership Day with Night around the topic of “Emotion 2030”.

The event not only imparted knowledge about current developments concerning AI but also provided strong impulses for the future-oriented design of organizations, leadership, and human-AI collaboration. With this format, the University of St.Gallen reaffirms its role as a pioneer for responsible digital transformation.
